MADS began with a handful of Nokomis High School students working on a class project with Nokomis High School teacher, Howard Whitten. The initiative was to assist the handicapped outdoors person.  In the 3 years since the beginning of that student project it has become a separate, completely independent nonprofit 501 (C) (3) organization!  This process required countless hours of volunteer time and hundreds of dollars of donated funding.  We have also acquired a number of donated boats and materials.

World's Longest Canoe
Canoe Section A Nokomis High School class project to build the World's Longest Canoe was realized when dozens of volunteers came together to assemble sponsored 8 foot sections in Newport, Maine on July 8. 2006. The 149 foot, 1 inch canoe was launched on Sabasticook Lake.
